According to KOCO and Burlington Northern-Santa Fe, Train had 110 cars with two employees. The Train was from going from Tulsa, OK to Texas.  Train contains ethanol and crude oil.  No Injuries Reported

Hazmat crews from Edmond and Oklahoma City are at the scene, where a Burlington Northern-Santa Fe train derailed. The derailment happened at Covell Road between Harrah and Luther roads, police said. It is northeast of Luther and just north of state Highway 66.

There is no word of any injuries, but the smoke can be seen throughout much of central Oklahoma. It is even showing up on Advantage Doppler HD, KOCO’s weather radar.There have been multiple explosions since the derailment, and flames are approaching an oil pump in the area.Authorities said the fire began with a report of smoke onboard the train.BNSF is sending company officials to the scene.

Luther school officials said the district’s bus drivers have instructions to bring children back to their school if they lived in an area that is closed off by authorities due to the fire. School officials will then contact the parents of any children brought back to the school, officials said

Train derails near Luther

LUTHER, Okla. – A train carrying crude oil continues to burn after derailing this afternoon in rural northeastern Oklahoma County.

The Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway, traveling southbound from Tulsa, derailed about 2:30 p.m. near Covell and Dobbs roads north of Luther, said Joe Faust, the director of public  affairs for the Fort Worth, Texas-based railway.

Officials did not know how many cars had derailed, but some of them were carrying crude oil, ethanol or had hydrochloric residue, Faust said.

There were 110 railcars on the train. No injuries were reported, Faust said. The railroad tracks near the site of the fire appear to be bent and an oil pumpjack is located nearby. Explosions at the site sent large balls of fire into the air.
