Stephanopoulos to the Rescue! Biden to give Post Debate interview to ABC News

President Joe Biden is scheduled to sit down for an exclusive interview with ABC News this Friday, marking his first major television appearance since the recent presidential debate. Following criticism of his debate performance, there have been bipartisan calls for him to withdraw from the race. During the interview, Biden will be speaking with former Clinton Advisor George Stephanopoulos, anchor of “Good Morning America” and “This Week.”

Previews of the interview will air on the July 5th edition of “World News Tonight with David Muir,” with additional segments shown on the weekend editions of “Good Morning America.” The full interview will then be broadcast in its entirety on Sunday, July 7, on “This Week” and on the following Monday’s episode of “Good Morning America.”

Despite some Democrats urging him to step aside, the majority of the party continues to support Biden as their nominee. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi acknowledged Biden’s subpar debate performance but expressed confidence in his judgment and strategic thinking. Senator Bob Casey of Pennsylvania also voiced his support for Biden, emphasizing his belief in the president’s ability to run a successful reelection campaign and serve a second term.

Republicans have criticized Biden for granting an interview to George Stephanopoulos, a former Clinton campaign strategist, arguing that this is an attempt by the mainstream media to “bail him out” after his poor debate showing. They claim the media has become nothing more than a “public relations wing” of the Democratic party.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told MSNBC on Tuesday that the president had “a bad night,” but added, “He has judgment. He has strategic thinking and the rest.”

Democratic Sen. Bob Casey, who is running for reelection in Pennsylvania, threw his support behind Biden Monday afternoon when asked about the president’s debate performance, telling reporters he is confident Biden can run a strong reelection race and serve a second term.

“No, I don’t worry about that. “He had a bad night in the debate, but people know what’s at stake,” he said.
