America’s Most Wanted, Anthony Flye, Escaped Child Rapist

 America’s Most Wanted Anthony Flye

Cops throughout the Northeast are pulling out all the stops to try and track down an accused child rapist — who is also accused of brutally assaulting an elderly disabled woman.

Anthony Flye has proven to be a tough man to incarcerate. On March 26, 2008, cops were transporting him to a courtroom so he could be arraigned on charges of viciously raping a teenage relative and assaulting a 60-year-old woman. Cops say while Flye was handcuffed and walking to court, he tried jumping head first from a stairwell, almost a story high. His goal: to gain freedom without facing justice. Flye suffered a back injury and a cut on his forehead, but didn’t get away.

Beverly —Accused child rapist Anthony Flye, who has been on the run since Tuesday, was spotted in Beverly Farms on Thursday, police said.

Flye, 38, was at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford at about 4 p.m. on March 25 when he told a court security officer he had to go to the bathroom. He was unshackled and while the court officer waited outide the bathroom Flye fled out a second door. He had been taken to the hospital after falling from a second-floor balcony at New Bedford Superior Court.

Police said a Farms resident spotted Flye at about 4 p.m. in the Beverly Farms Square area, at the intersection of West and Hale streets. The resident called police later that night after seeing a picture of Flye on the 11 p.m. news.
