Today, The Exxon Valdez, McCain we all Embellish

On This Day

On this day in 1989 the Exxon Valdez runs aground off the coast of Alaska, spilling 11 million gallons of oil into the water. On to today’s top stories:

“2 McCain Moments, Rarely Mentioned” (Elisabeth Bumiller, New York Times) Moment One: In 2001, talks between McCain and the Senate Democratic leadership about the possibility of switching parties; Moment Two: In 2004, talks between John Kerry and McCain about a unity ticket. Democrats have their versions of both stories, which have McCain as the protagonist; McCain says he was approached.

“Both Obama And Clinton Embellish Their Roles” (Shailagh Murray and Jonathan Weisman, Washington Post) We all do it on our resumes, so what’s the harm in a presidential candidate doing it as well? In any case, an interesting look into where both Democrats are padding their records complete with quotes from those, some even allies, who were the real force behind the accomplishments.
