Milliron- Monday, July 23rd 2007 (IMNS & Politisite.com) Charleston SC- For the first time in presidential debate history, a forum featured video questions posed directly to presidential candidates from average citizens. Anderson Cooper moderated the live CNN/YouTube Democratic forum, which featured video questions submitted through YouTube and then broadcast and answered by the candidates on CNN Television.
The Democratic debate, the first Democratic National Committee-sanctioned presidential forum of the 2008 election cycle, was held at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina,
Politisite and Iron Mill News Service were on site and provided coverage of the debate via wireless internet service.
The questions ranged from Gay Marriage to Reparations for African Americans for slavery.
Many of the questioners , for the first time, put question to the candidates that asked them to evaluate another candidates views. Some of the questions asked whether Barrack Obama being Black enough or Hillary Clinton being woman enough.
Hillary Clinton, thanked a questioner about their service in the War and stated that it is a family war. Hillary has not attended one funeral of any soldier that was killed in Afghanistan or Iraq. If she is so thankful for the service of the soldiers and families, they what is the reason she can’t make a funeral.
Senator Obama stated that the Soldiers have severed well. He took a hit at Senator Clinton that she should not have sent the troops in the first place. He further related that he was against the war in the beginning.
One question offered, “should woman register for the draft when they turn eighteen years old as do men”. Senator Dodd , Senator
Clinton, Senator Obama, Senator Gravel, as did John Edwards stated, that Registration should not be gender specific.
