It is offical, The military has Cleared United States airspace following Santa filing his flight plan. Kids from 2 to 99 can watch Santa as he travels from the North Pole via NORAD.
To avoid any possible delays with deliveries on Christmas Eve Santa Claus will have access to the same military airspace that President George W. Bush announced would be made available to civilian flights during the holiday period, U.S. Transportation Secretary Mary Peters said.
Santa Claus will enjoy special express lanes in the skies over the United States to help him make speedy deliveries to good girls and boys on Christmas Eve, Peters said in an emailed statement Thusday.
Earlier Thursday, Peters had presented Santa his Christmas Eve flight certificate at Andrews Air Force Base.
The US Department of Transportation did all the leg work in conjunction with the Military
So, as we do each year, we have cut through red tape to give Santa a green light on December 24.
We have inspected and certified his reindeer and sleigh.
We have given them landing rights on rooftops across the United States.
We even entered into an “Open Skies” agreement with the North Pole.
Still, we know this is one of the busiest travel seasons of the year. The skies can get very busy with so many people flying home to spend time with their families.
So last month, President Bush announced we would be adding more capacity for all those planes up there by opening military airspace to civilian aircraft.
NORAD has upgraded Santa’s Sleigh with Countermeasures against any possible Grinch or anyone else who wants to steal Christmas, NORAD said, “No way it will Happen”
