Plane Crash in Columbia, SC 4 Dead, Blink-182, Travis Barker and DJ AM Critical

Columbia, SC, (IMNS)-   Ex-Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and disc jockey DJ AM Adam Goldstein, have been critically injured in a Learjet crash that occurred shortly before  midnight Friday. Barker and DJ AM were airlifted to the Regional Burn Unit in Augusta, Georgia just 70 miles west of Columbia.  Weather did not seem to be a factor in the crash. 4 unidentified People are dead 3 males and one female.  The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is on its way here to investigate the Crash.  Politisite will provide updates as we get them.

Sunday Night Update: Barker & Goldstein Remain in Critical but Stable Condition(Last Update)

Media Representatives: At the request of the Travis Barker & Adam Goldstein families, the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors Hospital will share no further comments on the conditions of Barker & Goldstein. “Any future updates will come from their representation when they are ready to address them.  Please continue to forward all media requests to Jenni Weinman, ” stated Jenni Weinman, publicist for Adam Goldstein.

Update 11:10 pm ET – Columbia- Metro Airport has re-opened after nearly 24 hours of closure.  The NTSB went over the runway and to the 1/4 mile past highway 302 where the Lear Jet had come to rest.  Earlier today the Flight recorders were removed and any non volatile memory and was sent to Washington DC where it will be examined.

Update 7:42 Pm ET – A source inside Doctors Hospital in Augusta, GA has stated that DJ AM (Goldstein) has extensive burns to his face.  Barker has extensive burns from the Waist down.  Both are in Critical but stable condition.  Goldstein was said to be in surgery this afternoon. AM is “really, really badly burned,” according to the source, who confirms that “his face is very burned.” The source adds, “More than 50 percent of his body is burned and the worst is on his face.”

Update 7:30 pm ET – Fans Gather To Support Blink 182 Drummer, DJ-AM At Doctors Hospital Vigil

Word about the two patients being in Augusta, has been spreading very fast all day.  Today WJBF News Channel 6 got reaction from some of the fans outside of the burn center.
Saturday, fans gathered outside of doctor’s hospital, in a state of shock.  Hoping to get any information they could on Blink 182’s former drummer Travis barker and celebrity DJ AM’s condition.

Brandon Arand, Blink 182 fan: “I was really hoping that he didn’t die but he said he’s doing ok.”
Joseph Morales, Blink 182 fan: “I heard it this morning at work. I saw it, I was upset.

Now fans are already keeping their heads held high, hoping a tragedy like this can create…what they call a miracle, to bring them back together.

While recovery efforts continue inside these doors, these fans say they’re support efforts will continue outside.

Update 5:20 pm ET – Doctors Hospital in Augusta Press Release –

A press conference will be held Sun., Sept. 21 at 9 a.m. outside the Medical Office Building 1 at Doctors Hospital, 3651 Wheeler Road, Augusta, GA.

Update 3:09 pm ET – According to the Joseph M. Still Jr. Burn Center in Augusta, Georgia, Barker and Goldstein in “critical, but stable” condition.

Update 12:11 ET – NTSB provided the Tail number. The aircraft is owned by INTER TRAVEL AND SERVICES INC ,IRVINE, CA. Here is the last known flight plan  The Jet came from Teterboro, New Jersey departed 9:42 Pm arrived at  Columbia, SC 11:08 pm  Last night.  It departed just after midnight and crashed at the end of the runway.  NTSB is removing the flight recorder from the aircraft at 12:18 pm.

Update- 11:34 ET
-Lexington County Coroner Harry Harman has identified three of the victims. The pilot Sarah Lemmon, 31, of Anaheim Hills, CA co-pilot James Bland, 52, of Carlsbad, CA and Chris Baker, 29, of Studio City, CA
Update- 11:42 ET – Barker and Goldstein were in the middle of the road trying to put each other out according to one witness account.  The Witness tried to save others but the flames were to great.  These two were spared as they were thrown away from the plane.  May be this is one case where not wearing seat belts saved their lives.

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) – Officials with the Columbia Metropolitan Airport say a small jet has crashed killing four.

Officials say the accident happened shortly before midnight Friday night and that two people survived the crash and were sent to the Augusta Burn Center.

Officials at the Augusta Burn Center say they have Travis Barker, the former drummer from the band Blink-182. He is currently in critical condition. Barker was in Columbia Friday night for a concert at Five Points.

Jet crashed at the end of the airport runway

The privately owned aircraft never got off the runway, crashing at the end near S.C. 302 around 11:55 p.m., airport spokesperson Lynne Douglas. The airport is currently closed to all arrivals and departures.

Ex-Blink-182 Member Hurt In Jet Crash

Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said the plane carrying six people was departing shortly before midnight Friday when air traffic controllers reporting seeing sparks. She said the plane went off the runway and crashed on a nearby road. Bergen said the Lear 60 was headed to Van Nuys, Calif.
