According to a press release from the police department, Manor was homeless and took up residence under the Grove Street Bridge. Her body was taken to the Medical Examiner’s office in Chapel Hill for an autopsy on Sunday. The cause of her death has been ruled as an accidental drowning as a result of a fall into the ravine.
The man who discovered the body spoke to NBC17 crews on the scene Thursday, and identified the body as his wife. The man said he was in Florida for a week doing some construction work. He was supposed to meet her under the bridge Wednesday night. He said when he didn’t find her there, he went to sleep. He woke up Thursday morning smelling something and noticed what he thought was his wife at the bottom of the ravine covered with water and sand.
