Brennan doesn't get it compares domestic crime with terrorism

Brennan’s attitude about domestic crime rates recidivism and those released from GITMO show the Administration just doesn’t get it.  A criminal might return to petty theft, while a Detainee can cause deadly harm to our troops in the field.  They may share interrogation techniques to the enemy making our attempts to gather actionable intelligence vain.  But I guess all that matters when terrorists are given lawyers and read Miranda warnings.
The Gateway Pundit said this:

Only 1 out of 5?… No big deal.
John Brennan, assistant to the president for homeland security and counterterrorism, told an audience yesterday that 20% recidivism rate for Gitmo detainees is not that bad. Heck, most US prisoners have a 50% recidivism rate. Well yeah, but most US prisoners aren’t blowing themselves up in malls and on planes.

The comments have opened up this loon to criticism.

ABC reported:

On Fox News Sunday, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said Brennan’s assessment of 20 percent recidivism being not “that bad” was “mindboggling and unnerving.”

Graham demands Brennan’s resignation

Graham can’t even wait for Wallace to finish the sentence to demand Brennan’s firing, and he’s right. The comparison between recidivism rates for “pickpockets”, the example used by Wallace, and terrorists is a complete non-sequitur. No one expects pickpockets or armed robbers to locked up for life on their first conviction, but terrorism is an entirely different manner. Americans don’t have to face the consequences of a 20% recidivism rate for foreign terrorists captured during a war unless our government gives them that opportunity by treating them like pickpockets. That’s apparently Brennan’s approach, and Barack Obama’s too for that matter.
