KANDAHAR, Afghanistan — A Canadian soldier has been injured and an Afghan interpreter killed in a suicide bombing attack near Kandahar City.

An Afghan child was also seriously injured when the bomber struck Tuesday morning at a busy market in the Panjwaii District west of Kandahar City.

Canadian military officials say the bomber blew himself up near a group of Afghan National Police and members of the Canadian Forces who were conducting a foot patrol on the outskirts of the area.
