Code Pinks Buys RNC Credentials from Bloggers/Delegates
Anti-war protesters briefly interrupted John McCain’s acceptance speech Thursday night at the Republican National Convention.
One male protester and two female protesters wearing the traditional CodePink colors were removed from the hall by security officers. The male demonstrator had a sign that read “You can’t win an occupation” on one side, and “McCain votes against vets” on the other side.
The crowd tried to drown them out with chants of, “USA, USA.”
“My friends, my dear friends … please, please don’t be diverted by the crowd noise and the static,” McCain said. “I’m going to talk about it some more, but Americans want us to stop yelling at each other.”

I was browsing some of the sites that are providing information at the Republican National Convention and found something very disturbing, people Buying and Selling their RNC credentials.
One of the Major rules violations of credentialing is that you are prohibited to all ow someone to borrow, buy or sell credentials. The main reason for this is that security is maintained at a very high level during these vents. Giving your credentials to another person disables the security system.
Bloggers have been given credentials at these events at the highest level in history. Giving away, Buying or selling ones credentials will stifle any organization from being willing to provide credentials to Bloggers and Citizen Journalists in the future.
In the Case of Debates, and Political conventions, and other political events were secret service is involved , potential credentialed journalists are required to provide enough information for a background check.
So what is the result then. Folks are getting in to these events that have not successfully gone through a background check. This provides a security risk for the Event and the Secret Service and all of those who attend the event.
In a world were there was a conspiracy to Kill Barack Obama last night, and in an environment where homeland security is emphasized, what do you think will happen at the next event?
You got it right. They will consider Bloggers and Citizen journalists as security risks as they do not abide by the credentialing process rules.
I am on credentialed media databases. I got on those databases because I was a delegate for the Republican Party. I continued to receive credentials for the Democratic National Convention and the Republican national Convention since 1996. This year my application was bundled in with bloggers and I was refused credentials for the DNC. I follow journalistic rules and do not abuse the privilege. Journalists DO NOT sell their credentials!
The reason I am writing this is that I am concerned we all will be shut out due to the few who are buying and selling their credentials to people who have not gone through a basic background check. We all will be shut out in the future due to this.
I have provided a couple of the individuals who are doing so. The are breaking the Law and the Convention rules for journalists. If you ever want to be credentialed for anything. I suggest to expose these individuals and demand that they do not attempt to lend, buy or sell their credentials.
Note: I put a few feelers out and have had several responses to purchase blogger credentials. One response to my messenger asked for $3200.00.
Below are examples of what is easy to purchase. Tickets to Obama’s acceptance speech, Perimeter credentials, and although not affiliated with the DNC Big Tent credentials.
Credentials for Invesco field Prohibit Sale.
Any credentials that are advertised for sale online will be immediately deactivated. People seeking credentials are strongly advised to work with their Campaign for Change. Community Credentials obtained fraudulently will not be valid for admission at INVESCO Field at Mile High.

Do not attempt to sell or purchase tickets, or acquire credentials in any way other than through the DNCC. Any credentials listed for sale online or transferred to anyone other than the intended recipient will be immediately deactivated and will not provide access to the event. You must be able to travel to Denver and attend the speech at Invesco Field to be eligible to receive a credential.

Update: I contacted Craigslist and they report they are actively removing any posts that are selling DNC Credentials. Ebay is most effective as they are actively searching for media credential sales and removing them. None were found. Most of the sales are limited to smaller sites.

This is a credential that will get you into the what’s called the perimeter. You’ll be able to move around the entire pepsi center but not actually inside the pepsi. You will have access to the media pavilions and get into all events the press has been invited to

PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS – For the past five days, the leading anti-war group CODEPINK made headlines from The Denver Post, Salon.com to the Washington Times with their vivacious, creative peace message at the Democratic National Convention in Denver. At this week’s Republican National Convention in the Twin Cities, nearly 100 members of the women-initiated group will make more headlines with vibrant demonstrations, creative costumes, songs, banners and hard questions for delegates and politicians gathered there. Some of our major events include:
On Sunday, Aug. 31:
*From 1 to 2 p.m., CODEPINK members will march, ride pink peace bikes, sing and rally down Nicollet Mall to Loring Park in Minneapolis, in the Liberty Parade 2008, a nonpartisan musical celebration of shared values – liberty, freedom, justice and free speech. (For more details, visit http://www.libertyparade2008.com/site/).
*From 5 to 7 p.m. they will host the “Reclaiming the Constitution” event at the RNC’s Civic Fest at the Convention Center at 1301 2nd Ave. S. They’ll carry an enormous paper Constitution – carried by several people at once — and celebrate freedom of speech by saying “Dissent is Patriotic!” “We Want A Peace Candidate!” “Close Guantanamo!” “Restore Habeus Corpus!” and “I Miss America!”
*At 9 p.m. CODEPINK will host its “They Spy, They Lie, We Pay, They Profit!” protest outside the AT&T Salute to Screen Actors Guild at the Fine Line Music Cafe at 318 First Ave N. Minneapolis. (We’ll host this again 8 p.m. Weds. outside an AT & T event at Brit’s Pub at 1110 Nicollet Mall in Minneapolis).
On Monday, Sept. 1:
* At 7:30 a.m., CODEPINK will “drop” huge banners with “Build Bridges, Not War!” messages off of the overpasses over highway 94E and 35E, perfectly timed for when Republican delegates are bussed through to St. Paul to the Excel Center.
* At 11 a.m. CODEPINK will host the a “Pro-Life, Pro-Democracy” pink rally within the anti-war march and rally at the Assembly at Cass Gilbert Memorial Park (at Cedar St and Sherburne Ave.) in St. Paul. They will march to the Xcel Center at 1 p.m. Their parade will be non-confrontational, with puppets, colorful props and banners meant to inspire curiosity and hope for change.
On Tuesday, Sept. 2:
*At 7:30 a.m., CODEPINK will “Pink Slip” McCain on Wabasha bridge in St. Paul.
*At 9 a.m., the “Peace Builder” team in hard hats and tool belts will construct” a cardboard and fabric platform for peace and security. They’ll carry it down Nicollet Mall in Minneapolis.
*At 7:30 p.m., they will stage a protest with the Rainforest Action Network, Oil Change and other groups outside a Big Oil fundraiser at Epic Entertainment, at 510 1st Ave. N Minneapolis, to demonstrate against the Republican’s devotion to the interest of Big Oil companies instead of the American people. Wearing yellow “Support Our Oil Companies” ribbons, waving “Freedom Flags” (flags with the logos of the major oil companies) and showering our fellow delegates with millions of “Oily Dollars, ” CODEPINK will mock Republicans support for more oil wars, surging gas prices and obscene profits for Big Oil, drilling everywhere regardless of consequences, and “no” to clean and renewable energy funding.
On Wednesday, Sept. 3:
*At 10 a.m. Wednesday, in full costume, CODEPINK will host a “Women Say No To War Pageant” at 5th St. and Nicollet Mall in Minneapolis, right outside the Republican National Committee’s “welcome rally” for John McCain.

*At 1 p.m., wearing in pink police uniforms, peace “gardeners” gear, “pink slips,” and formal “I Miss America” gowns, CODEPINK will raise a ruckus to “Bust McCain” around Peavey Plaza, near the delegate hotels.
*At 5:30 p.m., CODEPINK members and friends will form a human peace sign in Harriet Island Park (Plato Blvd.) in St. Paul, to be photographed from the sky as a beautiful, living art image.
