And people complain about the high cost of living now, certainly a princely sum of 40 shillings (about cents) for discovering Canada seems a ludicrous sum for one man to take a historical journey to New Founde Land. One wonders what his wife said upon his return to Britian when after months at sea he hands over his paycheque to his wife who must have said “WTF” You’re an Idiot!
