John Edwards Dropped from DNC Schedule

DENVER – The Democratic National Convention, where Senator Barack Obama will be accepting the nomination as he runs for President of the United States, starts today and runs through Thursday night. North Carolina will only have one speaker during the event, as John Edwards has been dropped from the program.

The widely televised event is being held in Denver, Colorado and is expected to be highly attended by reporters from around the world. According to the convention media site, no North Carolina politicians are scheduled to speak.

One North Carolinian in particular, Senator John Edwards, is particularly noticable as being missing on the list of speakers.

Because of his admitted scandal involving an affair with a campaign videographer, Edwards is missing from the lineup even though he received earlier pledges by delegates in his run for president, which ended earlier this year when the field narrowed to Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

Although not listed on the convention website on Monday, the Raleigh Telegram has been informed by a source that a North Carolina woman will be speaking to endorse the Obama campaign on Tuesday.
