Obama not keeping Promise to Take Public Funds
In this case Obama will save the taxpayers 84 million dollars. So it may be well for this up and coming Statesman to go back on his word. The Republican’s are steamed and are already spinning that Obama don’t keep his promises. This spin may well come back to hurt the Republicans as Obama is actually saving the Government money. What is really going on here is this now means Obama can raise much more money and give McCain a hard run at the White House. Obama has won the contest in raising more money than any presidential candidate in history. So whats going to happen here is Obama will raise 300 Million more dollars. Why are the Republicans so steamed? McCain can’t op out and will only get 84 million. Wow a tax cutting Democrat.
Barack Obama opted out of the federal public financing system Thursday, setting himself up for a huge cash advantage over John McCain in the general election — but also providing his critics with a large opportunity to criticize his claim that he is committed to change in Washington.
Republicans slammed the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee’s decision to abandon an earlier pledge to use the more than $84 million in public money if his Republican rival did the same.
McCain’s campaign and supporters said the Illinois senator showed his true colors as a dyed-in-the-wool Washington player. And McCain said Thursday in Minnesota that “we will take public financing.”
