BAGHDAD – At least 34 people have been killed in three separate bomb attacks in Iraq, most of them in a suicide attack targeting police recruits.

Police say 25 people were killed and 40 wounded Tuesday in the attack on the police recruits in Jalula, 130 kilometres northeast of Baghdad.

Col. Ahmed Mahmoud Khalifa, the local police chief, says the bomber approached a building where the recruits were assembling and detonted the bomb after being stopped by guards.
