A four-car Chicago Transit Authority train has derailed on an elevated track on the city’s South Side, sending at least 24 people to hospitals.
says all 24 people will be transported in good condition.
The first two cars of the train are off the tracks at a junction between two lines, but remain upright on the elevated structure.
A CTA spokeswoman says the train derailed about 10:10 a.m. on the Green Line that runs to the South Side from downtown

Authorities responded to the site near 5900 South Prairie at 10:10 a.m., according to Fire Media Affairs Asst. Director Eve Rodriguez.
Ten ambulances were sent to the scene at the 59th Street junction near Garfield, and all trains were being stopped between 63rd and 35th.
As of 10:45 a.m., 24 people were reported in good to fair condition, and seven were reported in fair to serious condition, Rodriguez said.
Passengers were being treated in an open field near the derailment.
Rodriguez said a four-car train was involved in the derailment on the elevated line, and she believed only one car had left the track.

Green Line service has been temporarily suspended between 63rd Ashland to 35th and 63rd Cottage to 35th, according to the CTA. A bus shuttle is in place in both directions from 63rd Ashland to 35th and 63rd Cottage Grove to 35th.
Trains are being turned from South to North at 35th; as a result of the Green Line service is experiencing delays.

There were several minor injuries, Fire Department officials said. Three people were taken to area hospitals fair to serious, but stable, condition.
Two victims were taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, one to St. Bernard Hospital and Medical Center.
A total of 24 people were being examined at the scene and were in good condition.
An EMS Plan II, automatically sending 10 ambulances, and still and box alarm were called at 10:10 a.m. for a reported derailment, according to Fire Media Affairs Asst. Director Eve Rodriguez.
Fire trucks with ladders and snorkels were sent to the scene to rescue the victims.
Two train cars on the four-car train appeared to be derailed, with the leading car abutting the one behind it at an angle of approximately 150 degrees. The train cars were separated at a switching point.
