Looks like landlords are getting a jump on paying forecasted property taxes thanks to the Province and City of Vancouver’s mishandling and grossly overbudgeted Olympic Dreams. Someone has to pay for it and it will be on the backs of taxpayers and renters.  Many had forecasted this was going to happen, including those who said as 2010 approaches, renters will out in the cold as Property Developers and half million shoe box suites, and Landlords will be looking at ways to maximize profits before, during and after the 2010 Olympics.  As they say We live in the Bestest Place in the World.

METRO VANCOUVER — Several West End renters, including an elderly brother and sister who’ve occupied their apartment for nearly half a century, are facing potentially hundreds of dollars in rent increases from their new landlords.

Another couple, Donald Ransom and David Bronstein, who rent a one-bedroom apartment in Seafield Apartments at 1436 Pendrell, recently received notice that their landlords are trying to increase their rent from $1,067 to $1,849 per month.
